Betty and Lucy had been best friends for over 35 years. They both came from aristocratic families and were successful in their respective fields of expertise. Betty was busy preparing for her company’s 25th anniversary and asked one of Lucy’s helpers to make some caramel toffees for the celebration. Lucy agreed, and Betty delivered all the necessary ingredients for the preparation that evening. However, she forgot to inform Lucy about the toffee-making plan.

On Sunday, Betty stopped by Lucy’s house to pick up the caramel toffees, but something felt off. Lucy greeted her, and the helper gave Betty the toffees before leaving. However, Betty sensed that something wasn’t right but didn’t know what it was. She talked to Lucy about her day and asked if her mom was available to remind her about the anniversary celebrations. But Lucy didn’t seem interested and suggested Betty call her tomorrow. Betty thought Lucy was stressed with work and didn’t think much of it.

Later that day, Betty received a call from Lucy’s helper, who was crying and upset. Apparently, Lucy had been nasty to the helper all day for making caramel toffees for Betty. When Betty heard about this, she felt hurt and disappointed that her best friend would behave in such a cruel way. She couldn’t believe that she didn’t recognize that side of Lucy.

When Scott returned home from his business trip, Betty cried and poured her heart out to him. Scott understood the situation and explained that Lucy’s behavior was likely due to her ego. He advised Betty to send a message apologizing for any hurt caused and to forgive her friend. Betty didn’t want to communicate with Lucy but knew that she would eventually find it in her heart to forgive her. However, she was uncertain whether their cracked friendship could ever fully mend.
